Some important news about www.vfxoverflow.com

VFX Overflow was built on the StackExchange Q&A platform at the beginning of this year. There are many other StackExchange sites on various topics, some are doing really well and some have barely seen any activity at all.

The owners of StackExchange have decided to take back control of all the StackExchange sites, and that includes VFX Overflow. They will keep alive sites that are working and providing value to their community, and terminate those that are not. The criteria for deciding whether a site is working is not clear yet, but whatever it is I would really like to make sure VFX Overflow is one of those that's kept alive, as I believe it provides a valuable service to VFX artists that can't be matched by the bulletin board format.

So, the future of VFX Overflow rests in your hands, and this is a call to you all to make it succeed. How can you do this? Visit www.vfxoverflow.com often over the next few months, subscribe to the recent questions feed, contribute your knowhow, cross-post your questions to see where you get the fastest most relevant answers, and most importantly spread the word.

Any developers who have used StackOverflow will know that you typically get quality answers to questions within 2 or 3 minutes. That's insane! Thats what you get from a great architecture combined with a large user base. So lets get VFX Overflow past the tipping point and make it as powerful and responsive as Stack Overflow.

Many Thanks !
