I have a model that I'm trying to round edges on. And I think if the angle is less than 90 degrees, Maya's beveling tool does nothing. Is there a good rounding tool for polygons for Maya?

Thanks

I just tried with a torus: subdivision axis and height set to 3 to make sure there were plenty of acute edge angles (triangular torus with triangular cross section) When I applied a bevel the edges were rounded correctly but the corners got screwed up pretty bad. I had better luck making a 1 or 2 segment flat bevel (just to get some new edges close to the existing edges) - then smooth the whole thing. Maybe another option is subdivs.

Hi Julian, I've noticed that a host of Maya's poly tools act inconsistently. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I've exported my mesh as an obj trying to clean up any weirdness. But still no go. I'm going to resort to using nurbs to generate my fillets and then loft the gaps. – Manny Apr 20 at 18:58

Possible work around depending on your model... create two edge loops on either side of the edge and then delete the center edge. After that you could either leave your new edges or re-add the center line and remove the two outside edge loops.
