Different results when in "Render View" window and from batch rendering

I’m doing a mental ray render. No final gather or GI. Nothing special. Just shaders and a directional light and an ambient light.

I have adjusted everything to get the image I want in the Render View window. I kick off a batch render and I get washed out images.

I’m rendering in Maya2010. I’m thinking to try the same file in Maya2011. But this just shouldn’t happen. I’ve never seen this happen before.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

More info…

Since what I see in the Render View window is what I want. And when I open the file in the images/tmp folder looks correct. I wrote a script to render my frames in the Render View window and then save those out. I’m saving as exrs. I came in this morning to see the results and they were washed out!!!

I still had the last frame in the Render View window so I saved it as an iff. When I open that file, it looks correct!

I’ve never had any issues with exrs before. Is there something I’m doing wrong? Oh, I’m saving the exrs as “RGBA (Half) 4x16 Bit” with a gamma of 1.0. The rest of the frame buffer settings are default. Meaning everything checked on except “Desaturate”.

Any ideas?

AAAGGGHHHHH!!! I tried applying a gamma in Nuke of 0.4545 or ½.2 and VIOLA!!!

I had inherited these assets from another artist so I didn’t know anything about what I had to work with. Now I know.
