How to get "h.264" compression in Maya playblast on Mac OSX?

When "h.264" is selected as the compression type for playblast and quicktime saving, the mel command that is executed has compression set to "none". Has ne1 successfully achieved "h.264" compression?

Oh, I'm on a Mac running OSX. :(

Thanks in advance

The compression setting isn't handled by Maya at all. The window that comes up when you run playblast -options is from a quicktime component that Maya uses. Now as long as I set the compression from that window, and I don't try to do it through MEL, it works just fine.

When one clicks on the “Compression” button in the playblast options box, the resulting window that appears is where I selected “H.264”. When playblast is executed with this compression selected, the echoed command has compression set to “none”. And the resulting QT is not compressed. If you are achieving “h.264” compression on a MAC with OSX, please elaborate.

I am indeed getting a compressed movie using the steps you provided. Prehaps the diffence is that I changed the quality settings. ( Tried form best to least) and Depth as well to check that Black and White works too.
