I am trying to get final gather to light a subsuface shader in Mental ray. Currently I can only get standard lights to affect the subsurface material.
does anyone know of a workaround which does not included making a light dome?

turn 'indirect' on the lightmap write node from memory.
if you're using FG/HDR and expect values to get above one, make sure to turn off 'screen' composite on the shader itself.
Yep found it thanks =), was under the light map settings
